Blue Galaxy
Blue Galaxy plays an eclectic mix of modern pop songs arranged for string quartet + acoustic bass and drum set. Members are all classically trained, musically literate musicians, who just happen to share a passion for modern music in the vernacular. Taking advantage of advances in transducer pickup technology, this group operates more like a rock band than classical string quartet. Selections include arrangements of songs by Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Talking Heads, REM, Flaming Lips, Led Zeppelin, New Pornographers, and the Police.
This professional group of talented musicians combines a diverse range of musical styles from classical to Celtic, Jazz, Rock, Appalachian and Blues. Blue Galaxy reaches out to all genres to accomplish a musical connection that transcends the barrier of language. “We are a relaxed group and we sometimes improvise. We use electric as well as acoustic instruments and we like to be spontaneous.”
The group performs around the Southeast and has been featured on the public radio quiz show, “Says You!”
