Todd Simpson & Mojo Child

Todd Simpson, a 20-year-old asset to the local musical community, began his musical career at the age 8, playing a toy harmonica. Shortly after discovering his talent, Todd’s father introduced him to the Blues.  While watching a Willie King performance at Birmingham’s City Stages, Simpson was invited to play a 50-minute set with the Alabama bluesman. He has since shared the stage with blues players James Perterson, Little Whitt and Big Bo, and has performed with local musicians such as Topper Price and Rick Carter. When he was 16, he began showing his talents on the guitar.  Since then, Todd and his band Mojo Child, which includes his father, play a mixture of original songs and fresh interpretations of some of the greats by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers, Howling Wolf, and BB King.
With no formal training, this amazing, young musician plays from the heart, with a gift that allows him to feel the music.  Todd is known for spontaneously combining different songs from different eras, even blending old school blues with modern day hip hop.
Todd Simpson & Mojo Child continues to wow audiences with every live performance, building a very loyal and diverse following.
